PRESS RELEASE - Wednesday, October 9 - Men Can Sing Holiday Favorites with the Cheshiremen Chorus!

Listening to holiday music is a mixed bag, at best. Though folks get tired of the white noise from the radio and at the malls, there is still much magic when they sing their favorite seasonal songs, soulfully, with others – as in neighborhood carolers, or at church, or at a family gathering around the piano.

The Keene Cheshiremen, an a cappella chorus, has been singing four-part harmony for the greater Keene community for over 68 years. They mix up the selection of holiday favorites and produce a show/concert that is family friendly. So, again this year, they are inviting men of any age to join them, give it a try, and prepare with them for a show on Saturday, December 14th. Men will simply learn two or three of these Christmas gems, songs they already know, by attending short “lessons” or rehearsals over the next eight weeks, October 22nd through December 10th.

“The Cheshiremen Chorus offers the essence of the holiday spirit,” says member Robert Meissner Jr., – “and you could be singing with 25 good, strong men, singing well for the community, including your own family and friends. They will provide you with all you need: music, audio learning tracks, instruction, support, encouragement, and fun. Yes, you will need to hold pitch and attend at least six rehearsals – about an hour each.  It’s a wonderful and fulfilling opportunity!  Magical. Spiritual. Delightful!  Just plain cool!”

The Cheshiremen meet every Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Hannah Grimes Center at 25 Roxbury Street, in downtown Keene, one block off Central Square, across from the new MoCo.

Their “Songs of the Season” Holiday Concert will take place at the United Church of Christ, Saturday, December 14th at 3 p.m.
